March 2009
Greetings on the cusp of spring (as the snow keeps falling and falling). It’s been another tough winter so the longer days are most welcome.
It appears that I have not been clear that there will be a fourth Green Rider book – I’ve been working hard on it. There will be additional books in the series beyond #4, as well. It is too soon for any publication date(s) to be available.
In other news, for those awaiting the mass market paperback edition of The High King’s Tomb, it will be available this August.
I have a couple events coming up this spring, including a foray to France. Please check the Appearances page for more details.
November 2008
I thought I'd peer over the piles of autumn leaves and mention that both Green Rider and The High King's Tomb are being released in trade paperback in November. What is a "trade paperback?" It is a slightly larger format paperback than the regular paperback you usually see that can fit in your back pocket (known as a mass market paperback). First Rider's Call will also appear in trade paperback in July 2009. I'm very excited that my books are being published in a whole new format, allowing them to perhaps find brand new readers. What makes it extra special is that November is also the 10th anniversary of Green Rider's original publication back in 1998. To celebrate, I've included a new introduction to the trade edition, talking a little about the book's journey from idea to publication.
For those of you awaiting the mass market paperback edition of The High King's Tomb, never fear, it should be appearing sometime in mid-2009. I'll post the date when I know it.
In the meantime, have a wonderful, safe, and healthy fall.August 2008
Summer greetings. This month marks the publication of Cavalier Vert (a.k.a. Green Rider) in France. I hope the book finds its way into the hands of many readers who enjoy it.
Coming up next month will be the publication of my story, "Justine and the Mountie" in the anthology Imaginary Friends, edited by John Marco. By the way, I'll be doing a guest entry at John's blog sometime mid-month. You can check John's blog via www.johnmarco.com.
Other than that, it's work, work, work!April 2008
Happy spring! Though here in the north country, we're still not sure it's arrived. It has been, by all accounts, a long and dreary winter, but there have been some bright spots. First, there is you the reader. Thanks to you, The High King's Tomb has done very well, and I've been humbled by its reception out in the big, wide world. And, while it's all well and good to write a story, it is the reader that is the key to making it come to life, because without readers, it's just a bunch of words on paper. Readers and reading should be celebrated! I may be a writer, but I'm also a reader, and books quite literally helped me make it through some tough patches this winter. They swept me away into other worlds and helped me forget about my troubles for a while. Reading is, well, magical.
The second bright spot is that thanks to my readers (do you see a trend here?) making the Green Rider books popular, I have a new contract with my publisher, DAW Books, for more Green Rider books. The fourth book, which I've been working on, is the last of the old contract. The new contract will allow the series to continue.
